Commune has been making inroads in the culinary landscape with a string of outposts that span the breadth of the country, from Kolkata and Delhi to Pune, and now, Mumbai, where it will lay down roots in the bungalow formerly owned by cinematic icon, Kishore Kumar. But while previous outings from the one8 banner can be slotted neatly under the resto-bar category, the Mumbai iteration doesn’t appear content with walking the well-trodden path. Step within the household-sized door, and you will find yourself worlds away from the frivolities of the Juhu strip as gilded rays of sunlight beam down upon the cobblestoned walls of the glass house. On a particularly cloudless day, it isn’t hard to imagine patrons pausing the mid-meal chatter to marvel at the cerulean blue of the skies above.
